Well it has been a year now and there are only 2 posts in between this post and my last Lenten post. I guess I am not much of a blogger. Well, here comes Lent again and I have some ideas about what I should fast.
I take way too many naps. I have no idea why I am so tired all the time. i get about 7 hours of sleep normally. I know I should get 8, but the 1 hour difference should not make me want to take 3 hour naps in the middle of the afternoon. So, I decided I am going to fast naps and try to make it to bed by midnight every night unless there is homework due the next day which I haven't finished. This is going to be a tough one for me, but in light of recent lectures in my classes I want to spend less time napping and more time living my life.
Next I think I am going to give up soda. I know that is the lame typical thing to give up, but I am doing it to hopefully boost my energy in the long run; not just to give up something which I like.
anyway that is how I feel right now.
here's to life.

creating a future
disclaimer: I have never hated spending time or being with my family. I love them and always will.
So apparently the first decade of the 21st century is going by and I didn't even notice. The sad thing is that I really should have.
10 years ago I was 12 years old. I remember being so excited that I got to move up in to the youth group. One of my first youth activities was winter retreat and it was over new years. Y2K was the big thing then. I remember thinking it was going to be a bust.
Lots of things have happened over the last 10 years and by most people's accounts they were supposed to be the most formative years of my life. I am completely sure that they were. However, over this Christmas break I have had the time to look through several photo albums of family events and also read some pretty interesting articles on the decade here. But looking at these has really made me realize that I, for the most part, just coasted through this decade. I hardly remember several of the major events which happened in my family. All in all I missed a lot because I was often focused on stuff that didn't really have much importance.
This Christmas break has been one of the best I can remember. I hardly saw any of my friends and I spent most of the time with my family. It's a Christmas I would have marked as "average" if it had happened 2 or 3 years ago though. Maybe it's just the older I get, but I am starting to realize: family is pretty important. I guess in the past I just tended to look at family as more of an obligation rather than a privilege.
Even not talking about the decade, the lest year has been life changing to say the least. So you can call it a new year's resolution if you want to, or a new decade's resolution, but. . .
Its late, but I really felt like I needed to get all this out of my head.
i hope it makes a difference. . .

- I want to spend more time with my family and if I can't spend more time with them due to distance, I at least want to make sure they know how much they mean to me.
- I want to start my own family. No kids. At least for a while, but I am ready to share my life with Lauren.
- I want to be consistent with my devotions. I am terrible at it.
- I want to be a better friend.
- I want to do a better job at trying to remember what I study at school.
- I want to be more Christ-like in every way I can be.
- When it is all said and done, I want to be able to look back on this decade and truly remember the good, the bad, and the things that have really shaped my life.
Its late, but I really felt like I needed to get all this out of my head.
i hope it makes a difference. . .

Lent
So today, as far as I know is the beginning of lent. I could be wrong because nobody has said anything about it today, but last time I checked it started today. I never really taken lent seriously before, other than maybe the time I gave up myspace, but who gets on myspace anymore anyway? I have thought a lot about lent this year though and I think it is something that I want to do. I have thought about what I want to give up and the possibilities are facebook, stumble upon, text messaging, or carbonated drinks, or maybe just caffeine in general. I know that if I decide I will be a day behind, but I think it will count for something if I show 39 days of devotion to Jesus too. I know that lent can be taken different ways and all, but in my life I think it can be useful. I hope it will be.

Starring Barack Obama
So it is 2009 and no one has written a blog in quite awhile. haha. I am sure that between the last blog written and the present several things have happened that are worth writing about. Umm, the war going on in Gaza, Gov. Bill Richardson being all shady in his dealings, the first black president being elected, the economy, or maybe how fast I ran the 1.5 mile fitness test for my lifetime wellness class. Those are all pretty interesting things, to me, but thats not what I want to write about. It does have to do with Barack Obama but, not about how historic of a thing it is that he got elected. Mostly I just find it really strange, and annoying, that he is being treated like a movie star. It seems to me like every night there is some news about how Obama went on vacation in Hawaii and about how is daughters first day of school went, and this isn't on the evening news, it's on Entertainment Tonight. ET is a celebrity gossip show. Who gives a crap about the photo of Barack Obama with his shirt off sitting by the pool. I know there is news about his economic policy and junk like that too, and I understand that he has not even officialy taken office yet, but in the meantime I don't need to hear about the type of dog they are looking at and which one would "fit" the White House better. He is going to be our President, not the A-list star in the next Iron Man movie.
and I ran it in 10 minutes and 47 seconds.
